Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (AKA Modern Warfare 2 or simply "MW2") is a first person shooter game developed by Infinity Ward and distributed by Activision for PC, PlayStation 3 e Xbox 360 platforms. Officially announced on February 11, 2009, was released worldwide on november 10th, 2009.

The game is situated five years after Call of Duty 4 events. The campaign mode is divided between the multi-national counter-terrorists group Task Force 141, whose mission is eliminate the ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov, and the Rangers troop, with the task of defending the United States from a russian invasion. Between the scenarios are Afghanistan, Rio de Janeiro, Siberia and Washington D.C.

Modern Warfare 2 was acclaimed by specialized critics, getting an average of 94 on Metacritic, with the praises primarily directed to its complex multiplayer component. In the first 24 hours of launch, the game sold approximately 4.7 million of copies on the entire world.

According to Guinness World Records, Modern Warfare 2 had the most successful launch ever in the entertainment industry, beating the record of sales in the first day, previously belonging to Grand Theft Auto IV.
